Everyone wants to meet interesting people whom they can associate and share their lives with. But being interesting might not always be enough. You would have to create an image in their minds - an identity.
Anyways, I've been talking about dreams for quite a while now. I have a strong feeling that a sweetheart is going to say; "Aww! This is a dream come true!" innabit. Therefore, there is a need for us to know our personal brands.
To know your personal brand is to identify your calling – the purpose for which you live. Finding your personal brand is actually like examining your DNA. The real you gan-gan. It’s discovering what’s different, relevant and special about you. It means “packaging” as they call it.
It's the answer you give to the following questions:
- Who am I?
- What are my unique strengths, skills, and attributes?
- Where am I?
- What do I stand for?
- What will be remembered of me when I die?
- What's so special about me?
There are many qualified people out there. But the secret to standing out is the ability to blossom with the unique you - in person, on paper, and online. You need to make the true you shine. It all starts with knowing your personal brand.
When the Bible says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine among men. . ." It means to display your expertise. To showcase God's glory. To promote yourself. To perform. To use your gifts and talents. To express yourself. To show off. To do shakara!
I present my brand - AMAKAMEDIA. This is the purpose for which I live. I am a channel going through processing.
There is something you have that the world needs. Until you discover it, you cannot give it. That reminds me, I dug into Frances' blog and found an article she wrote about knowing who you are. You might find it really helpful. Read it here.

Meanwhile, having a personal brand is more than just a logo. It is everything you are. It is a lifestyle. It is about bringing who you are to what you do and how you do it. It’s about making your mark by being yourself - your best self. Mehn, personal branding is the way to go!
If you don't brand yourself, others will. I challenge you to find your brand so that you can shine like the star that you are.
You are a brand - one of a kind. Yes, sweetie!
Have a great week.

Heart Rays . . .giving out the light.
Nice. I really wish that you throw more light on this topic.......
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, your personal brand is a reference to the public perception of you. It's how people perceive your personality or your relationship with a particular concepts/ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhen people mention 'Deborah Anyeasi' what comes to light?
I'll go with Deborah. You should talk more about branding from the Christian perspective..... Do Christians need to 'show off' I'm not very comfortable about that part sha.
ReplyDeleteGreat article.
Uh-oh. Really? Telling you are a brand is simply repeating 1 Peter 2:9. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. These excellence qualities should reflect in what you do and who you are. That's the idea of personal branding.
ReplyDeleteThis Amakamedia can just like to be challenging somebody anyhow. So I should go and discover my brand now abi? lool.I really like what you do. Thanks. Nice logo btw #winks#
ReplyDeleteLol. Sweetheart, that was how I felt when someone asked me: "what's Amakamedia brand about?" I was like "huh?"
ReplyDeleteHe made me realize I actually do have a personal brand. So now I know, I thought you should know too. That's what friends are for. Isn't it? :)
If you really want people to know your name and identity, go build something. Make something good happen. Create. Invent. Help. Rescue. Solve. Improve. Thanks for sharing this awesome piece.
ReplyDelete"It is about bringing who you are to what you do and how you do it. It’s about making your mark by being yourself"
ReplyDeleteIt is simple as being original. the authentic you. I get now!
Amaka…congratulations on a brilliant brilliant blog..I couldn’t agree more with you.Do great things that matter and your reputation will follow… your personal brand will emerge. nice blog you have here.
ReplyDeleteI think there are plenty of fake personal brands out there – but I feel that the genuine and real people (Christians) have to recognise good personal branding too.
ReplyDeleteOn every level of business communications, the effectiveness of the individual is the key. We have to be sure to present ourself in the best manner. We do it in interviews, in presentations, and in public networking spaces. That’s personal branding. Being the REAL you.
The minute you write or say something about yourself you create an image of yourself, you (and I mean everybody) does that all the time. We all have our brands. But I think the only thing missing is how we package our brands.
ReplyDeleteI ran across your post and felt I must comment. I hope I have misunderstood your premise. Too many people mistake Personal Branding to be creating a website and logo to promote something.
ReplyDeleteBut if you are simply encouraging people to be authentic, then I agree.
jibbyks! you area brand, Amaka you are a genuis! brilliant post, if you stand for something then you wn't fall for anything. i am a brand

ReplyDeleteFantastic post. I really needed this. Sometimes the branding gets hazy in my mind and that's not acceptable.
ReplyDeleteGreat message! I love this blog.
ReplyDeleteChallenge accepted! *flexes muscles*
ReplyDeleteI appreciate this post a lot! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeing a “brand” is essentially the process of becoming who you are. The process of character building and reputation. God bless you for sharing.
ReplyDeletefantastic blog you got here. Matured thinking, matured comments. But you know, people who say they are building their personal brands automate a large percentage of their tweets and import tweets into Facebook and LinkedIn.They lost themselves to their product or services. I'm glad you have a different view.

Nicely put. Thanks John.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly the point. Authenticity is the ultimate. I like how a writer put it:
ReplyDelete“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Aww. . .Thank you Drea!
ReplyDeleteWhao! Kaycee, you’re my hero right now. That was beautiful and spot on. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteWord.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I can’t even find anything clever to say about your comment. It already says it all. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I believe a personal brand should reflect my true self. It's more like 'practising what you preach'. My personal brand is "positivity, inspiration and love" and I take that everywhere I go.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Stand for something - your values, passion and purpose.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jibbyks :)
Truly true. That packaging is a serious business, I tell you.

ReplyDeleteGive the credits to my sweet readers. They rock my blogosphere. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are actually two ways to it. You can be a brand ambassador or/and you can be the actual brand. I'm more interested in the latter. Brand ambassadors promote products and services but becoming a brand is being true to yourself and doing everything in alignment with your beliefs and values.
Thanks for visiting, Bictor.
