Hello lovelies! How was the weekend? It's so hot in this part of the world o. *fans face* How is it over there? OK, this post happens to be a response to someone who politely asked me; "Please, what is your blog about?" :D
A Matter of the Heart
I love heart matters. I just love anything that is heart-related. Wait, I hope you know heart matters aren't restricted to relationship issues. Good. Just so you know, Heart Rays isn't just about that. Lol.
I like how some theologians refer to the heart. They say it is the mind, emotions and will. There is much more to this definition but these three attributes seem so perfect for me.
Mind
- reasoning and thinking process -
The heart is where you think up ideas. The good, the bad and the ugly ideas. It is the seat of creativity and intelligence. It is the place where true knowledge can be received, conceived, and believed.
So that's why I post articles like; Concepts of New Things, God Loves Akara and I Love You Like Fufu.
Emotions
- moods and feelings -
When you genuinely fall in love with someone, you do that with your heart. Your heart feels the affection. It shows an expression of you when you are happy as well as when you are sad.
Will
- choices and decisions -
To have a pure, happy, and positive attitude towards life requires your effort. You have to choose the path to follow. Your heart is a place where decisions are made.
So that's why I talk about issues like; the scary choice I made, how to find peace within and how to fall in love with your life.
Ehen, am I writing rubbish? what am I exactly saying? The thing is your life is a matter of the heart. And you need to guard your heart like crazy because it can also be misleading. I didn't frame it up, it's in the Bible. Proverb 4:23 says;
"Guard your heart diligently, for out of it flows the issues of life."
"Guard your heart diligently, for out of it flows the issues of life."
Good thoughts = Good heart = Good life
Bad thoughts = Bad heart = Bad life
The habitual thoughts of our hearts control how we live. Everything we are and everything we do shines from the heart.
That's how my former boss told me the other day, "Amaka, you have a good heart." I melted! But then I asked myself, Really, how would he know that?
I figured he could tell because my thoughts direct my decisions, my decisions direct my actions, and my actions are what he's seen me do - my everyday living. He could tell from my expressions. (That is the light). You grab? If you can guard the thoughts of your heart, you can be assured of a pure, positive and prosperous life.
Once again, welcome to Heart Rays! The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart. :)
What helps you guard your heart? Or better still, how are you guarding your heart?

Heart Rays. . .giving out the light.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteAvoiding anger, pride, and temptation are ways of guarding the heart. I think
ReplyDeleteWooow! deep shit here! pardon my use of words. The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.U totally agree. . .Our walk with God is always a matter of the heart. Our actions stems from our heart. The heart needs guarding because the heart is not just deceitful, it is more deceitful than all else (Jer. 17:9a). We can’t trust it because of its natural selfishness, self-centeredness, and self-protective ways and devices.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha A blog post to answer "what do you blog about?" Great blog description by the way. What you see, what you hear, what you read, what you believe is all a part of the guarding process.
ReplyDeleteI guard my heart by dwelling on positive thoughts like visiting this blog #grins#
ReplyDeleteThe question is how do you avoid all these?
ReplyDeleteGod knows how fragile our hearts can be, and He begs us to take the time to protect them, to watch over them and to take care of them. But guarding your heart does not come in the form of some magical process or spiritual language, it comes in practical, everyday decisions.
ReplyDeleteThe heart is deceitful. Yes truly yes! That's why we need to GUARD it. The heart, when dominated by the sinful nature and man’s viewpoint, gathers wickedness to itself like impure imaginations, slander, false beliefs, false aspirations and solutions, impure desires, and deceit, etc. We need to be DILIGENT in the guarding process. That's the WORD of God.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contribution, Vicky!
Lol. I just had to break it down that way. The Heart is for ideas, emotions, and decisions. The Rays are the light shinning on life issues. The light is the Life-giving Word of God. Sometimes, I can't fathom the meaning myself. The name was birthed in the Spirit. . . I'm yet to unveil the meaning(s)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Dave!

ReplyDeleteVery enlightening. I enjoyed the read. To guard the heart means to be careful about what you listen to, what you look at, and who you move it.

ReplyDeleteThe heart is a place where decisions are made. That is why our decisions and choices are as important as who we are. Nice one Amaka.
ReplyDeleteExactly! It's not just for love and emotional feelings. The heart is the seat of intuition, love, creativity, wisdom, gratitude, faith and the like. Bless your heart, Alice.
ReplyDeleteOh, Vicky! Guarding what we take into our hearts and controlling our reactions will determine what takes root there. The word of God helps me guard my heart.

ReplyDeleteMatt 12:33-35, a good heart brings out good things and a bad heart brings out evil things, you can't separate the both of them from each other.
ReplyDeleteWhat is in the heart is what controls one's life.
Check what you take into ur heart(what you read, watch and listen to) cuz they will control all you do.
