I just couldn't find a better title for this post. Lol. I was on a bus and this man was shouting on top of my head. In my mind, I was like; "oga, na wetin na?!"
Evangelism
How should you be screaming when you are telling sinners to repent? Why would you condemn someone in the name of preaching? The man was shouting; "Repent! Repent! or you will go to hell fire! O ye sinners repent! or you perish!" That's not so cool.
The bedrock of Christianity is the truth that Jesus was raised from the dead after He died on the cross for our sins. If Jesus had not been raised from the dead, He could not have gone to heaven. And if He had gone to heaven, there would have been no hope for us. (1 Corinthians 15:17)
Evangelism should be based on John 3:16; "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Telling about The Greatest Love is enough to save a soul!
This is the greatest truth of all times. It is the Good News that we are expected to share with the world. It is a gospel of love. It is not a gospel unto condemnation. No wonder Jesus said in John 12:47, "And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world."
Evangelism is not something we should do with gra-gra. It is a process of communication. You have to make your listeners/audience understand the message you are passing across. If they listen, fine. If they don't, let them be.
It starts with loving and caring about people. It’s about being humble and developing trust. It means genuinely curious about the other person’s thoughts of God. It’s about really listening and helping people move closer to Christ, little step by little step until they’re ready to say, “Yes” to Him.
So biko, let's talk more about heaven than hell. Let's lay emphasis on eternal salvation than eternal condemnation. Let's live out the love than talk about sin. Christianity is more than a religion, it is a lifestyle.
Keep calm and spread the gospel.
Today, March 30 is slated for G.O.D 2015 - Global Outreach Day. A day set aside for every Christian all over the world to step out together to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I can talk on and on about this. Lol. I actually belong to the evangelism department in my local church. I love evangelism! Last year, I made a simple video - Watch here
Grab this opportunity and win at least a soul today!
Happy Evangelism!

very well said. Nice blog you have here
ReplyDeletePreaching in a bus is a violation of the right of the other occupants who may wants their quitness. Preaching in a bus is an abuse of freedom of speech. We should tow the path of moderation in whatever we do in this country. Despite all the noise born again, churches in all streets spreading like wildfire, there is no iota of improvement in our conduct. Corruption have so pervaded even the churches such that it is a business to make mega Billions for the pastor, the spouse and the offsprings.
ReplyDeleteThe wise should reflect.
If the other religion decides to preach in a bus , would you the fire spilting evangelist like the forced listening? Definitely not. So why do it to others. Must I be forced to listen?
Nice post!
I am a christian but please its always good to apply wisdom in how you spread the gospel. It's not forced down throats.
ReplyDeleteLol....some "evangelist" can be really annoying. You hit the nail on the head! Evangelism is simply a process of communication.
ReplyDeleteI never really supported this kind of evangelism simply because it has little or no effect on people's heart. In fact the best way to preach this gospel is to live out what is saying. The bible even says we should be the epistle that people read. Amaka, It's good to know we we have one thing in common, I'm also in the evangelism and follow-up department. #smile#
ReplyDeleteHmmm. . . there is nothing bad in preaching in commercial buses, since is not by for to listen or respond. Not that bad ooo
ReplyDeleteThanks Bro James. Glad to have you here! :)
ReplyDeleteWisdom is the principal thing. I appreciate your comment, Larry.
ReplyDeleteYou are right sweetie. It is a process. :)
ReplyDeleteExactly! John, you're always on point. Evangelism is living out the gospel of Christ. Aww. . . you're in the best department ever. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI like this post girl.......If you are ashamed of Christ here on earth ,he will be ashamed of you in heaven. Let us spread the gospel by all means. Happy Evangelism.
ReplyDeleteAsin ehn. I always wonder if people actually repent through people that do that aggressive evangelism. Oh well. Sometimes helping someone in need is all the evangelism you need to win that soul. Lol I'm not surprised you're in the evangelism department.
ReplyDeleteLol.... And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Evangelism requires violence! IMO #runs away#
ReplyDeletelol...most of them don't understand that when preaching to convert souls, you have to do it calmly so as to endear their souls..you don't have to sugar coat the word of God.

Lol. If I was the one, I will not say it in my mind. I will tell him ni. Some of them even collect offering after screaming rubbish.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very beautiful post. Some even cursed all in the name of preaching. The place of love it's no longer so evident in today's evangelical world. Many have forgotten that the sinners are the main reason why Jesus came. May God help us.

This is a such a magnificent global effort to unite and edifice each other, all for the glory of God! Nice one.
ReplyDeleteLovely post and comments here. Amaka, you have a wonderful blog. Really wonderful. I'll just add that Evangelusm is an everyday thing. It doesn't have to be on a particular time. We should do it everywhere everytime everyday.
ReplyDeleteSweet Amaka.. you nailed it right there. Some people murder Evangelism by asking for offering after preaching in a bus especially at parks.. near pathetic!
ReplyDeleteI think everybody already knows about Jesus. Trumpet is about to blow. lol. Your post on point.
ReplyDeleteEvangelist Amakamedia. lol. Right on point.
