The First Day At A New Job

Hello. How have you been? It's Monday! I am officially resuming a new job today. Yay!

I hope this excitement lasts for a long long time until I'm done there. Amen. Lol.

The First Things First

I have been anxious about wearing the tag "employed" ever since I got my offer letter. It feels kinda weird.

I didn't realize I had become so addicted to being jobless and enjoying the life of freedom. Phew.

I'm excited anyway!

Being in a new working environment is an exciting and sometimes nerve-wracking experience. You think of all the possibilities and opportunities that await you. You think of getting to know new people, adjusting to a new work schedule and to the company’s dealings and structures.

Thank God I attended a meeting and replied a couple of emails on behalf of the company last week (the week preceding my resumption day). Doing all that have calmed my nerves a little bit.

Since I already know a little about my immediate boss, and few of my colleagues. It is sure going to be easy for me today. Is that a prophecy? Maybe. :)

Well, this isn't my first job, check out the first six months on my previous job, but this is my first real job in a dream field, media.

No matter how "good" you are, there is always a bit of nervousness whenever you are starting a new career, a new project or a new relationship. It is normal.

And the first time at a new job is no different.

The nervousness of going to work for the first time might becloud your excitement. Feelings of doubt and insecurity may creep up on you.

Want to make sure you start things off on the right foot? I have some great pieces of advice for you.

Let's just say I have experience in that feeling of starting a new job. Lol.

How To Survive Your First Day At A New Job

First things first, COME WITH AN OPEN MIND.

Coming into your job with an open mind can make all the difference. (especially when talking to your new boss and colleagues).

Don’t just get physically ready with new clothes and shoes; make sure you’re mentally prepared, too.

Just take it slow and easy. Don't be too hard on yourself. It is all a learning process.

Keep your expectations on the low and be ready to adapt from day one.

That's the best quick advice I can give to anyone starting a new job.

When you come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall possess it, and shall dwell therein.
(Deuteuronomy 17:14)

Have a great day!
Stay positive.
Stay inspired.

*work mode activated*

P. S the picture up there is not a recent one. It's about 3 years old. I hope I'd be able to sneak out for a photoshoot before the day ends. Catch you later!
