Dear Diary, What Do I Want?

Imagine that as you woke up this morning, a cheque was sent to your house with no amount. You just need to fill the amount. What would you write?

Blank Cheque

Earlier this morning I prayed in tongues. Not a word was uttered in any of the languages that I understand.

I wanted to pray in English, but I didn't know what to ask God. Honestly, I wish I knew.

As I prayed, I was lost for real words to say to the One who owns the universe and all that is in it.

In a way, I feel like I'm cheating myself. Why shouldn't I know what I want?

I feel God asking me today, "Ask anything in my name and I will do it"

I am being careful not to ask for things that are ephemeral, but something of eternal value. I am being careful not to ask for a piece, when I can get a whole package.

The Spirit knows what I need, so I speak in tongues. However, when it comes to asking for what I want, this babe has go to speak plain English!

God is offering me a blank cheque. He did it in the life of King Solomon. Solomon didn't ask God for money yet God gave him wealth. He only asked for wisdom so that he can serve his people. Out of wisdom, God gave him wealth.

Solomon got a whole package!

Solomon request was, "Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” (1 Kings 3:8-9)

Wait. It’s interesting that Solomon didn’t even use the word “wisdom” in his request. God was the one who defined his request as wisdom (1 Kings 3:10-14). Wawu.

I really love the way Solomon phrased his request, and I want to explore that. This is clearly something he’s thought about a great deal.

God promises a blank cheque today. He is God, He never changes, He remains the same. The same mighty provider of old is the mighty provider for today.

Currently pondering on what to have on my blank cheque . . . 💭

---------------------------------

“Ask for whatever you want Me to give you.”

Now, place yourself in Solomon’s shoes for just a minute. What do you ask for as a young king? Power to defeat all your enemies? Great wealth? Obedience from all your subjects?
