Pick One Goal And Follow Through

Happy New Week, sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing? Missed me? I sure missed you. Do you get easily distracted? Do you do so many things at the same time. Same here. But if we look closely, we are actually slowing down our progress. Let's pick one thing, focus on it, and see to its completion.

Follow Through

Many of us believe that multitasking is the only way to successfully stay on track with our busy schedules, so we embrace this approach at work. But in its core, the only thing that happens when we are multitasking is that we switch our focus from one task to another. This can be time-consuming and can lead to making more mistakes.

Today's inspiration is a simple one:

Pick one primary goal for the week, and measure your success on that basis.

By focusing on one thing at a time, you are able to concentrate deeply on the task, to think more creatively about the solution and to complete it faster than usual. It increases productivity and brings better results much quicker than multitasking. The more focused you are, the more productive and fruitful your work will be.

Easier said than done. Yours truly hardly focuses on one thing per time. But I have purposed in my heart to make this a habit at work. This week, I have picked one particular goal to have accomplished by Sunday.

You can too.

It doesn't have to be a mega big goal like "write a book". You can break down your big goal into smaller goals like "write a page", "write a chapter" and follow through each of your smaller goals per time.

Maybe this week your primary goal will be to finally make that new hairstyle. Or to reorganize your wardrobe. It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as you get in the habit of choosing a primary goal for the week and making sure you can at least get that done.

Imagine not feeling overwhelmed with crazy tasks at work every day. Not only will you get more done, you’ll also feel better doing it.

"So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision - you'll see it yet!"
- Philippians 3:15, MSG

Here's wishing you a super productive week. Happy Focusing!
Love you.

Who else is a chronic multi-tasker?
