Redefine The Way You View Stress At Your Workplace

Hello sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing? I know I've not been regular here as much, please bear with me. There is a lot going on. And work? It has been stretching me.

It's 8:00PM. I thought I could let this day pass because I am VERY tired but thankfully, I found my fingers hitting the keypad. It's Career-Wednesday!

Redefine Stress At Work

Rick Warren says in his book, The Purpose Driven Life; “Work becomes worship when you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of his presence.” I concur!

Sometimes it takes only the presence of the Holy Spirit to keep you sane when the happenings at work try to drive you crazy.

Phew.

So I got my very first query email ever some days back, and I was hurt. I was hurt because the matter in question wasn't related to my job description. I felt like my work wasn't appreciated. At the point of taking a major decision, the Holy Spirit broke into my thoughts. He told me to embrace the experience as a stretch.

"No experience is a waste. Each experience you get is stretching your capacity to receive higher dimension of grace for the next season."

Hearing the word "stretch" totally changed my perspective about the whole scenario. Suddenly, I became enthusiastic about doing my job, even beyond my job description—as a labour of love and with a deeper sense of purpose. I know God sees and appreciates what I do. He is using this work experience to build my capacity.

In recent times, when someone asks me, "Amaka, how is work?"

I don't say:
Work has been stressful ✖
I say: Work has been stretching ✔

We may not enjoy the stretch because it hurts sometimes. But after the stretching comes the blessing!

God also wants us to see that work is His gift to us. It is not a result of the Fall. God gave Adam and Eve the job of cultivating the garden and exercising dominion over the world before sin entered the world. We were created to work, and for work. Work is God’s good gift to us!

This pic has nothing to do with the article. I just couldn't help but notice how four colleagues (Dayo, Wale, Juliet and I) were wearing something in pink on the same day. #StyleLikeAmaka

Listen to what the Wise King Solomon wrote:

After looking at the way things are on this earth, here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life. And that’s about it. That’s the human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift!
— Ecclesiastes 5:18-20, The Message Bible

Being happy in our work doesn’t depend on the work, it depends on our attitude. To make the most of our job and be happy in our work is a gift God wants to give us!

Are you being stretched at work? Put on an attitude of gratitude. It's a sign that blessing is coming your way!

Keep Stretching

Stretch your faith. Stretch your humility. Stretch beyond limited thinking. Stretch beyond your comfort zone. Stretch beyond fear. Stretch beyond worry. Stretch beyond the walls those negative voices have erected in your mind. Stretch beyond the past. Stretch.

How do you stretch?

You simply put your confidence in the Lord. You walk by faith and not by sight. You take actionable steps toward what you believe God is saying you can do, be and have, knowing that, in His way and His timing, He’ll come through for you.

Stay inspired.
Love.

It's 9:04 PM. My stomach is growling. I shall be going straight to bed after dinner. Come join me. Lol :)

Pondering: We all want better pay, better position, better everything. But how grateful are we for where we are currently?
