What I Wore: Short Hugging Skirt and a Long Ankara Jacket

The Ankara/African prints designs are here to stay and is a must have in your wardrobe. If I don't inspire you to wear more of Ankara, then what in the world am I doing here?

Happy Style Sunday!

Ankara Jacket + Short Skirt

There's this song a colleague always listen to in the office, it's about finding a girl who is both fun but professional and independent. I appreciated the connection made in the song between outfit choices and the assumed personalities they project.

The girl that is fun wears a short skirt and the girl that is independent wears a jacket. Lol.

This song popped into my head when I was blogging this outfit. It struck a perfect balance between elegance and cool.

Long freeform Ankara jacket looks best with a simple top and tight trousers/skirts or jeans. You can complete this look with a pair of heels if you’re headed to a special occasion, or with a pair of cute Oxford shoes or sneakers if you want to create a casual look.

Did I say tight skirts? You can also wear on pleated skirts as I did here

When you can't afford shopping for new clothes every week, no worries whatsoever. I'm up for working with what's already in the wardrobe (and even brother's wardrobe). With a little street style inspiration, you can turn any outfit featuring a long Ankara jacket into something stylish, trendy and totally interesting. Whether it’s wearing it on your shoulders or pairing it with some really bright turtleneck, it’s simple to spice this trend up.

Sitting pretty in God's presence.

Hope you're having a great time!

Stay inspired.
Stay be-YOU-ti-ful
