Overview: He Wasn't My Husband Written By Nwamaka Onyekachi

My book hasn't broken the Internet yet. Until then, we have to keep talking about it. They call it "promotion." 😁

Without shame, I am pleading with those who had read/currently reading the book to write a review on their social media platforms using the hashtag #HeWasntMyHusband. I'd really appreciate it. Or, you can send your reviews to hewasntmyhusband@gmail.com.

Many have walked up to me and say things like: "your book is amazing!"
"I couldn't put it down until I read the last page!"
"Amaka, I applaud your courage to write this!"
"I learnt so much from your book. I am even taking notes."
"I would have to read it again. There is so much to take in!"
"I can relate so well with your story."

Some have turned these spontaneous moments of sharing their thoughts about the book into a talkshow and it's been so freaking exciting (and frightening) to know that this baby is fulfilling its purpose.

OK. Can you now help me tell someone else to tell someone else about it, pleaseeeeeee?

If you are like my cousin who claims she has no writing talent, then you can copy the press release below (shaded words) to paste on your blog, Facebook/Twitter/IG timelines etc. Thank you so so much!

We hide our stories when we feel exposed or ashamed, or when we convince ourselves that we have to be perfect. Newsflash: Perfect is out. What's in? Honest self-expression. Allowing ourselves to share emotions. To be seen. To feel vulnerable. To stay open to others and to ourselves.

He Wasn't My Husband is a self-help memoir that will challenge your perception about your past relationships that didn't lead to marriage. In this self-help/memoir hybrid, Nwamaka shares her very personal and intimate stories which chronicle her experience of numerous relationships and their long-term effect on her life.

The book is broken into four sections. In part one, she shares her childhood stories — delving into the state of her heart that came through the examining events from her young age — from the perspective of an adult. In part two, she recounts her journey of falling in love with each guy and her lack of personal boundaries and habit to see only the good in possible partners, to finally finding herself again. In Part three, she offers the reader the opportunity to start their own process of self-discovery and healing through a series of thought-provoking paragraphs wrapped with question of "Are you still bleeding?"

Ultimately, Nwamaka asserts the importance of understanding oneself — self-awareness. She stresses reader's responsibility to uncover the truth behind hurts as a way of finding lessons and forgiveness and peace and to finally end patterns that may have festered for years.

My memories were in front of me — waiting to be touched and felt and given away, ready to be used as an instrument in the healing process. I didn't know until. . . that moment it all started to make sense.

So I write. . .He Wasn't My Husband. I have never written anything that meant more to me than the words in this book. It is my truth. You will discover how deep I loved and how painfully broken I was. And the amazing, life-changing, heart-healing freedom I found before I got married.

Latest thoughts on He Wasn't My Husband

It makes sense that you went through all those boys before you met Kachi. I like how you showed how you grew from each relationship and become a better person for him. He would have run away if he had met you at boyfriend number two🤣🤣. He Wasn't My Husband gives a single girl who is crying over her relationships hope for her future relationships and also not to die when it doesn't end in marriage.

I think it's a more realistic Christian approach than telling someone not to date at all. So yeah, I can recommend it for a single person

Amaka’s book in one word? Intriguing. It caught me unawares. For someone that preaches authenticity I was still stunned by how real and ‘raw’ she has been in this book. It took my breath away. For this I commend her. It’s not easy.
I smiled. I sighed. I laughed. I rolled my eyes and many times I had to put my phone down and process what I’d just read. Yes, this book you have in your hands is about to take you on a roller coaster ride!!! Fasten your seatbelt and get ready to learn from Amaka’s story. I promise.
You will come away wanting to meet her if you don’t already know her. That’s how powerful this book is.

I just finished reading HWMH and I fell instantly in love with the book.
The best part is relating deeply with your story and I appreciate you for being so real.
Lots of love from here❤
