What does it mean to be Lovely?
adj. love·li·er, love·li·est
- Full of love; loving.
- Inspiring love or affection.
- Having beauty that appeals to the emotions as well as to the eye.
- Enjoyable; delightful.
- A beautiful person, especially a woman.
- A lovely object. Dictionary source
I love these definitions.
The work of loveliness ultimately starts from within and, among many other things, is revealed in the following ways:
- The way you style yourself
- The way you speak
- The way you carry yourself

How to Be Lovely
It takes intentionality.
STYLE: A lovely person is intentional about dressing up. By selecting age appropriate clothing with appropriate style, fit. lengths and complimenting colours, you express your degree of loveliness. Remember loveliness is not determined by price tags. It's determined by the suitable choices you make.
SPEECH: A lovely person is intentional about communication. This includes how you speak to or addresses others. You make others feel important and even more special than when they first met you. A lovely person reaches out to others by expressing kind and warm thoughts. You give sincere compliments to others - You say what you mean and you mean what you say.
SPIRIT: A lovely person is intentional about being a light in this dark world. This includes maintaining and expressing a positive attitude. You consistently work on your character and carriage. And ultimately, you seek to conduct yourself in a very courteous manner.
Now, here is the gist: Last Sunday was Children’s Day in my church. In fact, the entire week was dedicated to children, where they ministered to adults in prayer, Bible study, dance, and songs. It was a great week leading up to Sunday. The children were to worship with the adults, and you can imagine how chaotic it could get. But guess what? After the service, one of my church mamas, Mummy Uwadoka said to me:
Amaka baby (that’s what she calls me 😊), your children acted like adults today. They sat when they were supposed to sit and stood when they were supposed to stand. They are so lovely. I didn’t see them running around like other children…
And I was so happy and blessed that Mummy Uwadoka didn’t withhold the gift of words to me. I wish I had caught that on camera. Aww! My girls are indeed growing like beautiful flowers. Glory to God!
I am very high on discipline, especially in the area of loveliness. I am very intentional about how I carry myself. And I want that for my girls and for you, too.
Consider many things including the way you seat, walk and stand. Also, do not neglect the power of a smile when expressing loveliness. Smile warmly and thoughtfully to others. Let a meeting with you become a life-changing experience.
