How I Pretend to be Confident Even When I'm Nervous

I am quite outspoken, but can also be quite shy. You can never tell that I'm nervous on the inside when I'm holding a mic. I've been pretending, and it's been working. Want to know how I do?

How to Fake Confidence

It's normal for anyone to lack confidence at one point or another. Sometimes you just have to fake it.

It's safe to say I'm becoming a pro at faking confidence. These are the tips I use to fake my way through any awkward or uncomfortable social situation. . .

1. Dress Up: I love to look good. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you naturally exude confidence. Wear clothes that fit you, and make you feel like a star.

2. Stand Right: I am very conscious about my standing posture. It depends on what makes you feel like a star. Ensure your shoulders are standing as straight as your legs .If you have to sit, then sit up (perhaps with legs crossed). Whatever happens, don't slouch. Stand tall and rule your world.

3. Smile: Who doesn't know how to wear a smile? We all do. It's very simple, yet so underutilized. You'll naturally ease your nervousness when you keep smiling. As long as you do that, you will find yourself actually relaxing and appearing confident.

4. Maintain Eye Contact: This one is tricky so you have to be very careful. It will either expose your nervousness or show off your confidence. Look on the face of the person(s) you are talking with. You might not necessarily stare into their eyes, just play your eyes around the nose, lips, chin and forehead. Don't look away.

5. Speak Up: Nothing projects confidence more than having ideas, and nothing will boost your confidence more than proving to yourself that you really do know what you know. Speak loud enough for others to hear. You don't want anybody screaming; "We can't ear you clearly, speak up!" Do you?

I hope these tips help you as much as they've been helping me. You know what they say, "fake it until you make it."   *winks*
