Yay! Another giveaway post. Not just any kinda giveaway, it's a book. A book! You know I'm a bookworm. Yeah? Just in case you didn't know, read 7 Things About Me. Good inspirational books are the second next things that turn me on after the Bible. I have read so many books on how to fulfill purpose but this one is different. . . very different.
'10 Steps To Walking In Purpose' is the newest book written by my very own sweetheart - Barr. Frances Okoro. A powerful, interesting and unique book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
When Frances sent me an e-copy, I was really excited for what was to come because I read the series and got a glimpse of what she let out on her blog. And then when she went ahead to say: “Sis, could you please write a review for me after reading it”, I was beyond honored. This young lady has inspired me in countless ways.
I read it almost immediately. After reading, I quickly forwarded an email to her. I said:

This is not just any book. It is really powerful! I've spent the last three hours reading all through the 142 pages - cover to cover. And I will want to read it again and again. Ah Frances, thank you for letting God use you like this!
And I meant it.
'10 Steps To Walking In Purpose' is one of the real and authentic books I have come across in ages. The book will awaken your consciousness to the profound truth that God created you for a purpose. I was blessed, touched and fired up by her story. I rediscovered I was created for more.
In my opinion, the highlight of the book is in the 6th Step. The step talks about sharing your story and owning your brokenness. If there is one thing I have learnt in life, it is to tell your own personal story - the good, the bad and the ugly. There is beauty and blessing in sharing your brokenness.
Do you ever try to accomplish God’s plans through your own strength and ability? Most of us struggle with the idea that it’s our own strength that draws God’s attention, when our strength is actually the very last thing God wants. God wants our brokenness because brokenness makes room for Him to release His strength through our weakness in order to accomplish His plan.
Frances emphasized that we cannot walk in purpose without releasing all we are and all we have to God. Giving everything we've been through and everything we know. We have to get real with God.
Excerpt from the book:
"Our past experiences weren't given to us for us to sweep them under the carpet; they are all to be used in the good works that God has prepared for us before the beginning of time.
Every experience - painful or not that has ever happened in our lives lead us to just one thing - God's purpose for our lives. For God's light to shine through our darkness."
I could go on and on about this book. '10 Steps To Walking In Purpose' is a life-changing and spirit-lifting book with real wisdom and *whispers* beautiful pictures. As in, I saw Frances from another angle in all the chapters. This lady is fineeee. Lol. Just wait till you get it. :D
A review cannot be complete without a little criticism. The only criticism I have about the book will be that the steps were not very well elaborated. On reading the conclusion of each step, I be like "Ahan, is that all?". I wish Frances used more words and really really explained. Oh well, she made up for it with the nuggets of wisdom and the extra steps at the end. Nice.
Overall, '10 Steps To Walking In Purpose' is a wonderful book. I would recommend it to everyone who desires to fulfill their God-given purpose (and not their self-created one). I think anyone and everyone could gain something from reading this. You will be blessed at least.
Honestly, I have to commend Frances for stepping out boldly to share her true story so passionately and so deeply. Who does that? God bless you, sis!
