I love wearing ties. There are more than 20 pictures of me on different ties in the style post titled 'Feminizing The Tie' and a couple on 'Coupling Up'. Ties are one of my favourite statement pieces.
Based on the fact that I wear glasses 85% of the time, ties are fabulous on me. Yeah, I know what fits me and what doesn't. You have to know what fits you too. Knowing your style helps you stand out and stay true to WHO you are.
And you know, fashion can be full of funny words which can be perfectly sensible and perfectly contradictory. e.g Vintage Clothing. So I recently found another favourite fashion oxymoron: geek chic.
I am a real geek and chic.
Still trying to understand what exactly is Geek-Chic?
Want to be pull off the geek-chick look? The easiest way is to wear a pair of glasses and pull off a bow tie. Then you are good!
Meet my youngest brother. His name is Nnamdi. :)
Nnamdi actually inspired this look. In the middle of a discussion, he just inserted "You sef. When will I wear your brand? You better let me wear it now before we hammer" lol. So I made him a bow tie . . . and made one for myself too. (I make Ankara Accessories)
We planned to rock it to church together. I was disappointed that he didn't wear the all-black outfit I suggested to him. Anyways, this wasn't so bad.
I had no idea how this post would turn out, I only knew it was going to be on and about the bow ties. If I had known, I would have asked Nnamdi to wear some nonprescription glasses which would have complemented my geek-chic style.
Anyways, I hope this inspires you in some way to embrace your inner geek with fashion.
Bow ties. Yay or nay?
Whatever you choose to wear, make sure you are are simply looking good, becoming the best possible version of yourself that you can muster.
P. S Yeah, this is one of the frames I talked about in 'The Struggles Of Wearing Glasses'. So nerdy yet so chic. :D

Geek-Chic:
Clothing or accessories that are very geeky/nerdy and yet, at the same time, says “I’m cool because I’m proud of the fact that I’m a nerd, and am not afraid to dress the part.” (HuffPost)
