Honestly, I Have Been Too Busy For God

Happy New Week! How are you doing? It's time for Bible Study!

Let's not forget that our goal in the PYH series is not merely to increase our knowledge; but to change our lives. One focal point of the Book of Joshua is about winning the battle to inherit the Promised Land.

Submit To God . . . Everything Is A Threat

Two nights before I decided to put this post together, I had a dream. All I can remember about the dream was what a young man said to me after picking me up from . . . I can't remember. I don't know where.

He said, 'Everything is a threat!"

So I woke up with those words ringing in my heart.

Everything

     is a

          THREAT.

Words are like deep waters. I like to fetch as many meanings and concepts as I can in a particular word (as I have done with "new" "swallow" "sip" "good"  etc) There is a need to do a special post for the word "threat". Until then . . .

I am an open and true lifestyle blogger. So I will admit to you that since I got into this 9-5 game, the hardest thing in my life has been to keep a consistent daily time with God. For two weeks, I had not enjoyed any personal intimate moment with God. My fellowship time with God had only been shared among family devotions, church meetings and online Bible study groups.

I happened to be struggling in my relationship with God because everything (time, sleep, emotions etc) seems to be fighting against it! Thank God for that dream. It shook me!

Sweetie, I hope you are not too busy for God?

You have to spend time with God in order to be close to Him, close enough to kiss His faceto feel His love, to sense His presence in your life. Everything that keeps you busy is a threat to your relationship with God.

You weren’t put on this planet to mark things off your “To Do” lists. God didn’t create you to do a lot of activities. God created you to know Him, become like Him and love Him. So, if you’re not spending time getting to know God, you are missing the number one purpose of your life. Satan knows this, and he’s going to try to keep you busy!

The devil knows if he can keep you disconnected, you’re useless. You have no power. You have no defence. You have no strength against his temptations. He doesn’t care if you do all kinds of good things as long as you don’t spend time with God.

By all means, guard your relationship with God. It is your NUMBER ONE purpose in life. Everything else is a threat.

Alrightie,

The PYH Series: Joshua 5

I couldn't share anything on this series for two weeks because I've had no intense personal Bible Study. I'm frankly disappointed nobody noticed or asked. But it's all good. We can deceive people, and to some extent, ourselves, but we can't deceive God. Anyway, we are back! The devil is defeated! Hallelujah!

The fifth chapter in the book of Joshua is loaded - From the circumcision to healing and to the celebration of the passover. Quite an interesting chapter. However, the part that shined brightest for me at the time of the study is where a Man appeared unto Joshua.

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are You for us or for our adversaries?"
So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshipped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"
Then the Commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so.
~ Joshua 5:13-15

I find the Man's response very impressive. He gave me insight on how to answer interview questions. Lol (a fantastic career post loading 😉).

So here, we see Joshua boldly approaching this mysterious Man that is holding a sword.

Joshua being a leader knew that it is his responsibility to find out if this Man was a friend, a fan or a foe. He had to be sure of what the Man was up to.

So he asked a logical question: "Are You for us or for our adversaries?"

But the Man's response made me curious. He said "No".

If you ask me, "No" was not a proper answer for Joshua's question. He could have said "I am for you" or "I am against you". Why isn't He answering the question directly? I was meditating.

Then it dawned on me that Joshua didn't ask the right question.

The Man refuses to answer Joshua's question because it is not the right question, and it is not even the most important question to be asked at the time.

It wasn't a question of whether God was on Joshua's side. The proper question was whether Joshua was on the God's side.

By the way, I hope you know the Man, standing before Joshua, was God.

The Man said: No, but as the Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.

That's God telling Joshua: You are a great leader - but look, you are not the Commander in Chief. I Am!

God had come to take over.

This chapter tells me that before Israel could take over the promised land, they had to be taken over by God - and Joshua's total submission was the pathway.

Your level of submission to God expresses how far God has taken over your life - goals and dreams.

Oh, how I like that moment where Joshua fell on his face and worshipped. So inspiring.

He surrendered. It was a sign of submission.

For many of us, TOTAL submission is one of the missing elements on our journey; we have not been, and are not continually being, submissive to God.

Let's stop being stubborn.
Let's stop being easily carried away.
Let's stop getting all wrapped up with life.

God desires to be fully in charge. Let Him.

Do you ever feel too busy for God? It's OK as long as the Holy Spirit in His infinite mercy calls you back with His arms wide open, you are a victor.
