Let God Set Your Agenda - Joyce Meyer

I have been intentionally following Joyce Meyer for a while now. She is one of my spiritual mamas - I listen to her sermons, read her books, stalk her tweets and visit her website whenever and everytime I have the chance to.

Permit me to use her inspiring words to speak to us today. (This is my word in season).

Let God Be God In Your Life

Remember, you made your schedule, and you can change it. Pray about your day, your week, and your life goals to find out what God wants you to do, and what He doesn't want you to do.

Which Would You Prefer - Style Or Taste?

Hi sweets. How are you doing? No matter what happens, always remember the story hasn't ended yet. With God all things are possible (Luke 1:37).

Yep. It's Style-Sunday!

Even if I decide to totally change what I blog about after overcoming my artistic identity crisis, I'd still blog about my 'What I Wore'. Lol. I am passionate about clothes because I consider it a creative tool for evangelism.

Style Vs Taste

Sometime ago I went shopping at a thrift store, the store keeper recommended a dress to me that is not what I usually wear. So I said, "Hm . . . nice but this is not my style", then she said "ahan, you have high taste oh". There and then I started to wonder whether choosing what to buy/wear was based on style or taste.

What's taste without style, anyway?

I google-researched on the difference between style and taste because obviously I use the former more than the latter in various posts like 'Cook Your Style Sweet', 'Discover Your Style Statement', etc. It turned out you can totally admire a person’s taste in fashion without necessarily agreeing with their style preference.

"It Will End Up Better Than It Started"

Reading aloud during our Family Devotion this morning as my day led us through his 'The Daily Guide Devotional', I strongly perceived the Holy Spirit speaking directly to me. Can I save it here?

Get To Work

People can speak to your ears and possibly even your mind. Only God can speak to your whole being. His ways of communication is literally out of this world.

His communication can be described in a multitude of ways. Surprising, powerful, unusual, unavoidable, miraculous, necessary, strong, gentle, loving, judgmental, appropriate, wise, perfectly timed, purposeful, sufficient, successful, mysterious, understandable (to the obedient), hidden (from the rebellious), ordinary, extra-ordinary and irreplaceable are just a few words that describe it.

Dear Diary, I'm Suffering From An Artistic Identity Crisis

I keep trying to discover what my media form and art style is but honestly I have no clue?? Just when I think this is it, another emerges. I'm having an identity crisis.

Artistic Identity Crisis

I've been facing a sort of creative paralysis for a while. Oddly enough, I don't have a lack of ideas. My problem is that my ideas are in a thousand different directions. And it's bothering me that I can't make it all merge together as ONE.

It bothers me sometimes that I do so many different kinds of things and like so many mediums and styles.

Strange Spiritual Gifts

Hi sweethearts. You are so amazing. Thanks for reaching out to a blogger who has been away. I hope you are super cool, and if you aren't, I trust the current rainy weather to force you to be cool. :)

Defy the odds anyway, get on fire!

Fan Into Flames

One of the questions occasionally bothering me about spiritual gifts is whether the gifts mentioned in the letters to the Romans, Corinthians, and Ephesians are exclusive. As in, are those sixteen (or is it seventeen?) spiritual gifts the only ones the Holy Spirit gives?  Were those lists meant to be just examples, or are they the only possibilities?

Dear Diary, I'm In The Middle Of A War

July 2017
~War, Amaka, war~

Every day I’m in a battle.

The prize? My attention. My time. My priorities. And most valuable of all, my heart.

My enemy is cunning and crafty with many tried and true weapons at his disposal. His favourites — schedules, conflict, busyness, social media, men. Each of these he knows very well and plans skillfully.

How To Create Personal Time For Yourself When You Don't Have The Time

No matter how much you love what you do, keeping a balance between work and your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing is IMPORTANT.

Create Personal Time

It had been a hurricane weekend. I skipped a few "personal" time and the fatigue had stormed my heart and left a trail of emotional debris. Even sleep didn't relieve the weakness. Was it the event, or just my body's edging into midlife that had made me so weary? That was when I started thinking about taking a break.

We are all busy.

Being busy is good but our lives doesn't have to be so rushed that we can't see where the time is running to.

Dear Diary, Can Me And Me Be Best Friends?

That moment you realize your friends are there to help you but you’re always going to be the one  who makes the hard decisions and deal with their consequences.

Being My Own Best Friend

I’ve spent years trying to win people’s approval and win their hearts. I’ve spent years trying to have as many best friends as I can whether by putting them on a pedestal, putting my life on hold and showing up for them whenever they needed me and trusting them blindly with all my darkest secrets and dreams.

5 Shocking Realities You Discover As You Journey Through Life

We all get drilled with certain lessons in life. Sometimes it takes repeated expressions to really get it into you, and other times one powerful experience drives the point home forever. Here are 5 shocking things I’ve discovered about life at this point in my life.

5 Shocking Realities

Realities are always shocking.

For some, in their reality, it is marriages being delayed. You had wanted to be married at certain age, but you're now older and wondering.

For some, in their reality, it is child birth being delayed. You had wanted to have a baby immediately after, but not yet.

For some, in their reality, it is finding a job being difficult. You know you're smart but no organization has seen that.

For some, it is getting into school taking a toll. So many things you can't explain.

We realize these "realities" mostly when we are alone and it can be disappointing than shocking.

Shocking reality literally shocks you to the bones and marrow. It shakes your view about life. It's a rude awakening.

Shocking reality, to me, is when I realize what I believed in few years ago as reality was just an assumption. Here are 5 of them:

What I Wore To Church: Cold Things

Happy Sunday! Enjoying the weekend? Here is an outfit that makes no sense, really. But I can't quite take my eyes off it. Could I actually . . . maybe . . . like it?

Cold-Inspired

I love clothes. I think clothes are an amazing way to define our personalities and express ourselves. Hey, that's one of the reasons why I blog about What-I-Wore!

Being generally inspired by colours, prints and everything African when it comes to fashion, I can say that my sense of fashion is a mix and match, a falling rainbow, a cacophony of everything I like. And when it comes to style, I am not afraid to push myself.

And The Winner Of #AmakamediaGiveaway Is . . .

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the blogoversary giveaway and helped make it a success.  Put your hands together for yourselves. You are awesome! :)

Winner Of The #AmakamediaGiveaway

Surprisingly, not many of my sweethearts showed interest as I had expected. At first, I was disturbed. Then again, it dawned on me that a lot of you visit (read, peruse, survey etc) my blog not only to get something out of here, but also to support and show your genuine love for the blogger. Thank you.

I refuse to think it's because you are 'prouding' or because you feel the money is too small for you. Lol.

A Show Of Love For Roasted corn

This is a random post to appreciate roasted corn. There is nothing like the flavour of corn roasted on coals! It's on my top 3 favourite snacks. It is one thing that gives me plenty of chewing satisfaction. I love love love it!

Roasted Corn Is Bae

Sometimes the best food we find happen to be street food. While I would be careful to eat street food, I wouldn't be too careful with roasted corn. Honestly, that's where all my money currently goes into.

When There Is A Bully In Your Office

Bullying is not just about children. Adults are bullied too - in relationships/marriages, at work, and sadly, sometimes at church. We, as Christians, are called to shed the light on these dark areas.

Have you ever been ignored, left out, pushed aside, criticized, or talked down upon. . . day after day. . . after day? This repeated act is one of the worst types of bullying ever.

It's Career-Wednesday! Let's talk about office bully.

Dealing With Office Bully

I got into a little trouble when I wrote 'Dealing With Office Gossip'. A colleague read the article and took it personally. The person said it wasn't cool to write about it. The point of argument was people who work here would start to feel like I was referring to them. And I was like "but I didn't call names or paint anybody black".

Looking back now, it drew us closer because we now understand each other better. We laughed about it especially after another colleague read it and said "if anyone has a problem with this post, the person should go and hang themselves".

Is The Year Half Full Or Half Empty?

Happy New Half-Year sweethearts! July 3rd is the middle of the year. Half of the year is gone, half of the year is still to be. I hope you are fine and in good health.

My church family thought it was all about fashion when I wore a turtleneck piece yesterday. Lol. As I write this, I am battling with cold, cough and conjunctivitis. But I.will.be.fine.

Half Full Or Half Empty

I've always heard about the glass half full, half empty phenomenon. I got intrigued when the idea popped up in my head while in a meeting with the youth executives in my local church. (Hi Johnero!)

I am a worrier by nature but encourager by spiritual gifts. So I know how it feels to be hopeful as well as uncertain.

6 Style Challenges You Should Try This Month And Next

It feels like only yesterday that we welcomed 2017, and now here we are in July. Half of the year is already gone!

But no matter how the first half had been, we can get by with a few things to change and anticipate. And embarking on a STYLE CHALLENGE is a great way to push yourself.

Challenge Your Style

We all know it's not possible to overhaul our entire wardrobe every month or every time we want to. We are left with no choice than to wear the clothes we already have. That's why bloggers (like yours truly) inspire our style and help us to constantly learn great ways to repeat our clothes and reinvent our looks without spending a dime.

I can count how many clothes I bought so far this year. I have saved money for myself from unnecessary fashion troubles through these challenges.
