The Other Side

Do you know what robs our joy faster than anything else? When we know the right thing to do and we don’t do it.

Ah, may God help us maintain our joy!

The Other Side

If God lays it on our hearts to do something, we should better do it. And do it immediately because for every opportunity that you get to choose obedience, you receive a blessing!

Obedience doesn't exactly sound like fun. It actually feels like an obligation, like something we have to do.  We often doubt the motives of being asked to obey, or we think that our way would surely be better.

Why is that so? Because we always want to see what will happen if we do what we do before we obey. That's living by sight. However, God has desires that we live by faith.

It’s easier to have faith when we can see the end of the story. But often it takes greater faith to obey God’s promptings when it doesn’t make sense at the moment.

My aim of writing this article today is to encourage you to obey God. Focus on doing your part and let God take care of the side.

Because of the because!

There are blessings from God on the other side of obedience to Him. I know I have experienced this many times in this journey with Him.

I'll tell you what, I have gone through two kinds of obedience tests:

The first is to obey the Word of God. To obey the Bible’s teachings. To obey the ten commandments, to love my neighbour as myself. To be faithful in giving to the house of the LORD and spending time in His presence. All these things are written in His word as statues, ordinances and commandments.

The second are the times when He specifically instructs me. To do something or say something to or for someone else. Sometimes this is a very hard thing for me to do. So there is the choice: to obey or ignore the command.

So many times I stumble and fall flat on my face but I always get up and try again and again until I am fully obedient. When that happens, there is always a blessing from Him on the other side of the test. It has always been that way. He rewards obedience!

There is a joy from God that is only experienced on the other side of OBEDIENCE. We often miss it by our pride, fear or doubts. We think we are entitled to something and when we don’t get it, we sin.

What has kept me from fully obeying God is following my own selfish desires. I wanted to do what I wanted to do. Which really means that I didn’t trust God enough to keep me. I didn’t trust that God would do what He promised.

What’s keeping you from fully obeying God? Do you trust Him? Do you love Him? Is there another reason? This is the perfect time to go to God and ask Him to reveal to you what’s really keeping you from obeying Him. Once you get the answer, ask Him how to turn from that. He loves all of us so much that He will reveal Himself strong in your weak area. We don’t have to do it alone. God has given us His strength to accomplish those things we can’t do on our own.

That thing you’ve been praying for is on the other side of your obedience. God’s promises are on the other side of your obedience. All you have to do is love Him and obey.

The Bible says in James 4:17,
“It is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

The secret to continual, abundant, and overflowing joy is obedience. It’s doing what God tells you to do. Every time you do what God tells you to do, your life’s going to be filled with joy.

I know this because I am there now.

Pray: Lord, Thank you for showing me love, kindness, and mercy throughout my disobedience. I love You, Lord, show me how to obey you completely. Reveal what is hindering me from fully submitting to You in Jesus' name. Amen.

Happy New Week!

Stay inspired.

Stay obedient.
