Here's what I wore to church today.
Ankara Jacket
Ankara bumper jackets, kimono jackets, blazers, just name them. You can’t go wrong with them. And you can rock them with skirts, jeans, shorts/bumshorts, pencil skirts or short skirts. They are valuable pieces to have in your wardrobe.
I have had this piece since 2016. As I write this post, I vividly remember where, how and why I got this piece as well as what happened the first day I wore it. It's interesting how your clothes can cause you to 'play back' certain past experience and the feeling associated with them.
Like I mentioned in this post: what you wear is an evidence of your personal development. If we were to gather all of the clothes we have ever owned, we could paint a picture of ourselves and how we have become who we are today.
Whether we have eventful lives or not, our clothes have stories to tell.

We can see key moments in our lives marked by the outfits we wore for special occasions. Damage to these clothes may say even more. A rip may be a permanent reminder of an accident; a bloodstain may be evidence of a brawl, etc.
Your clothes can also tell you about your weight loss or gain, like I just realized I have gained back the hips I lost last year. Hallelujah!
For today's church service, I wore the jacket over a white shirt to compliment the colours on the jacket and I kept my accessories minimal to let the print shine.
And my shoes? They are the same pair I wore during one of my 'outings' at my Traditional marriage ceremony. see here
Knowing cute new ways to wear old clothes can showcase your creativity with style. I love it when I can wear the same clothes over and over and over again in different ways.

See how I rocked this same jacket in 2016.
I still have some pieces in my box that I've had for years but do not want to dispose of (yet) because they carry past experiences. I know that a record of past experiences is a record of who I am.
P.s My recently published book, 'He Wasn't My Husband' chronicles a part of my past — past relationships that didn't lead to marriage. Read it yet? Click To Order Here.
I had a Bible, two copies of HWMH, some money, lip gloss, handkerchief, a jotter and a pen in my purse. |
